Opal Faces Solo Exhibition/ Opal Yüzler Kişisel Sergi Irmak İnan Akçadoğan

Doğuş University Faculty of Art and Design, Graphic Department faculty member, Assoc. Prof. Irmak Akçadoğan’s solo exhibition “Opal Faces” opened on Friday, 18 October 2024, at 17.00, at Ankara Mira Koldaş Art Gallery. The exhibition can be visited until November 07, 2024. 

Portraits are the focus of Irmak Akçadoğan’s paintings. Using multi-layered surfaces in portraits, the artist mostly prefers acrylic painting technique on canvas. The artist, who attaches great importance to colors and reflections, attributes this to growing up in a workshop full of colors in her childhood.

She attributes the emergence of the “Opal Faces” series to being very impressed by an opal stone she came across at a stone fair she went to with her family as a child.

“That small piece of stone seemed to contain all the colors and mystery of the universe for me. In my works in the series titled “Opal Faces,” I focus on female portraits reflecting different emotional expressions. With emotionally charged female portraits carrying the colors of the universe, I try to reflect the power of women and emphasize the aesthetic and mysterious aspects of women by adding details that resemble precious stones.”

Doğuş Üniversitesi Sanat ve Tasarım Fakültesi, Grafik Bölümü öğretim üyesi, Doç. Dr.  Irmak Akçadoğan’ın kişisel sergisi “Opal Yüzler”, 18 Ekim 2024 Cuma günü saat 17:00’de, Ankara Mira Koldaş Sanat Galerisi’nde açıldı. Sergi 07 Kasım 2024 tarihine kadar izlenebilir.

Irmak Akçadoğan’ın resimlerinin odağında portreler yer alıyor. Portrelerde çok katmanlı yüzeyler kullanan sanatçı, çoğunlukla tuval üzerine akrilik boya tekniğini tercih ediyor. Renkler ve yansımalarına büyük önem veren sanatçı bunu renklerle dolu bir atölyede büyümüş olmasına bağlıyor.

 “Opal Yüzler” serisinin çıkışını ise çocukluğunda ailesi ile gittiği bir taş fuarında karşılaştığı opal taşından çok etkilenmiş olmasına bağlıyor.

“O küçük taş parçası sanki evrenin tüm renklerini ve gizemini barındırıyordu benim için. “Opal Yüzler” başlıklı serideki çalışmalarımda farklı duygu ifadelerinin yansıtan kadın portrelerine odaklanıyorum. Evrenin renklerini taşıyan duygu yüklü kadın portreleri ile hem kadınların gücünü yansıtabilmeyi hem de değerli taşlara benzeyen ayrıntılar ekleyerek kadının estetik ve gizemli yönünü vurgulamaya çalışıyorum.“

Irmak Akçadoğan’s solo exhibition “GİZ” opened on Saturday, 04 December 2021, at 18.00, at Ankara Mira Koldaş Art Gallery. The exhibition can be visited until December 15, 2021. In the exhibition, the mysterious faces waiting to be seen have something to tell.  The portraits in the “Hidden” exhibition are waiting for art-loving viewers to hear themselves. All portraits in the exhibition contain traces. These traces are the reflection of sometimes happy and sometimes sad moments. The intertwined colors, the layers that change color according to the perspective, and the attractiveness of the precious stones ensure that the emotional state reflected in the eyes of the portraits is hidden at first glance. The viewer, who can catch the moments when this curtain is opened, can hear what the portraits want to tell.
